Troon to Ayr

Map 5 This section of the route is shorter at 9.5 miles in length and it starts from Troon. Heading south it making use of the Ayrshire Coastal Path as it heads first past Prestwick and Newton on Ayr then on to Ayr. Some of the path is also designated as a part of National Cycle Route No. 7 with several parts reaching onto the coastal sands.

Places of interest on this section are the Prestwick Salt Pan Houses, Bruce's Well, Lazar house and St Nicholas 11 century Church.

This section is already complete and frequently walked. For directional details simply click on this link and download instructions based on walking from Troon to Ayr. These directional instructions are based on key points along the route which are defined using grid reference numbers. The relevant Ordnance Survey map relating to this section are Explorer No. 326.
